Olive Oil For Hair
Prior to preparation, you will need olive oil, (extra virgin olive oil is better due to the way it is processed) a shower cap or clear wrap and a towel. Contrary to what you may think you can use ordinary olive oil for hair, no special brand needed, although you will see below we recommend extra virgin.- For short hair you will need about ¼ cup of olive oil
- For medium length hair you will need ½ cup of olive oil
- For long hair at least 1 cup of olive oil
You will need to heat the olive oil for hair until it is warm. This can be done in the microwave or in a small pot on the stove.
While you are waiting for the oil to heat, you can start to prepare your hair by parting it and you will also need a towel to drape around your shoulders close to your neck.
Place the olive oil in the parts of your hair and work it into your hair bringing it from the scalp to the ends, continue until the oil oil for hair is worked through all of the way.
- Take the hair and put it into the shower cap, or take 3 feet of clear wrap and wrap it around the head.
- Leave the olive oil for hair in for at least 30 minutes leaving it in longer will not harm the hair.
- Rinse the oil out with warm water as much as you can followed by shampooing.
- Dry as usual
This olive oil for hair treatment will leave your hair more manageable with a healthy sheen to it as well. For maintenance, this can be done either once or twice a month to keep your hair healthy especially if you use hair color or have a relaxer. If you happen to enjoy swimming in either salt or chlorinated water, then you will need to rinse the salt or chlorine out, let it air dry, then follow the directions above.
