Avengers: Infinity War is an American superhero film directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, released in 2018. The film features the characters from the Marvel comics created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Jim Starlin and builds on the comic book series The Infinity Gauntlet written by Jim Starlin and published in 1991 as well as the Infinity comic book written by Jonathan Hickman and published in 2013.
The 19th feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first cycle and seventh in Phase Three, it follows Black Panther released two months earlier. Much like Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), the film is a crossover between various Marvel franchises including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Hulk, Ant -Man or the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and played by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson among others, the film deals with the decimation of half the population of the universe by the supervillain Thanos thanks to the Infinity Stones as the Avengers team tries to stop him. For this one, Robert Downey Jr. plays Iron Man, Chris Evans plays Captain America, Mark Ruffalo plays the Hulk, Chris Hemsworth lends his features to Thor and Scarlett Johansson to Black Widow.
The film received a majority of positive reviews which elevate it to the rank of model of Marvel productions. The film is also a hit with audiences with a total of $ 2.048 billion in operating revenue, becoming the fifth-biggest hit in movie history.
He was also nominated at the 91st Academy Awards in the “Best Visual Effects” category and at the 61st Grammy Awards in the “Best Instrumental Composition” category as well as in a significant number of minor ceremonies. He notably won a Saturn Award given to Josh Brolin for his interpretation of Thanos.
