The FIFA world cup the history of winners
The World Cup is an opportunity for every country to showcase its best players. The Grand Tournament allowed young players to gain the national recognition they deserve and veterans to continue their legacy.
The most successful World Cup countries
No national team has been as successful in the World Cup Finals as Brazil. Selecao won the title five times, most recently in 2002 when a star-studded team including Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho defeated Germany 2-0 in the final.
The Germans are next on the list of the most successful countries at the World Cup, having raised the trophy on four occasions - three with West Germany and again as a unified country in 2014. Italy, the first country to win the World Cup twice, is tied with Mannschaft dying on four Victories.
Uruguay, the opening champion, was the first team to win the Jules Rimet Cup in 1930, and won another title in the surprise of 1950. Argentina also won two titles.
