Rocky (1976)
Stallone became famous in one fell swoop through the movie Rocky. In this early '80s blockbuster, Stallone plays third-rate boxer Rocky Balboa, in a self-written script, who is challenged to fight reigning boxing champion Apollo Creed. The film was an instant hit and laid the foundation for the successful sequels around this "Italian Stallion".
